Pampered Poisonous Royal Wife Ch 73

Chapter 73 Red silhouette on a rainy night

The women who had booked their clothes early smiled, especially Lady Yang who had previously added two hundred silver to receive her clothes earlier. On the fifth day, the clothes and jewellery were sent to her. She had ordered the Clusters of Flowers set and happily flaunted it. The dress, once unfolded, wafted with a light floral fragrance, the base mainly of red and jade white colour. The sleeves and neckline of her jacket were embroidered with butterflies. The lower skirt was embroidered with beautiful flowers only on the right side, as if the beauty stood by the side of a thicket of flowers, attracting colourful butterflies, adding an extra touch of elegance which let the lady wearing the dress look more noble.

The more she looked, the more satisfied Lady Yang felt with the dress. She promptly wore the new dress to attend the banquet that afternoon, unaware of how many people had secretly envied her. Especially at the banquet, Lady Zhao who organized the banquet, when she saw her wearing Niyunfang clothes, Lady Zhao specially invited her for a chat and her attitude was quite mild. Even those who did not order the clothes were turning green with regret.

After that, for more than a dozen days, many people came to knock on the door of Niyunfang every day. Nevertheless, Mu Yunyao only wrote a sign saying that they were still closed and not accepting orders and hung it up, which made those people in wait felt like dying.

Mu Yunyao heard Lady Zhao and others deliberately helped her to raise her clothes’ prices. She immediately let Jin Lan and Jin Qiao sent the ladies two bottles of rose fragrance. Although the gift was small, it was only to show that they had received the other’s affection. It did not matter even if the gift was small.

Because they needed to finish the clothes in a hurry, Mu Yunyao had to help out with the embroidery while guiding the apprentices in how to embroider with the needles, and also needed to consider the opening of the tea house. She was simply too busy she had no time to do anything else.

Su Qing was distressed when she saw her daughter running back and forth, and decided to move into the store too. She also lived on the third floor of Niyunfang, so that she could conveniently take care of her daughter at any time.

That day in the evening, when the sky was gloomy, Mu Yunyao saw that the apprentices were tired, so she told them to go to rest. In these two days, Su Qing had taken care of her food and drink, and she had also helped with organizing the silk thread. It was not easy, and she was also persuaded by her daughter to go to rest.

After she finished sorting out the account book, Mu Yunyao got up and stretched out her wrists. These two days were particularly hot, as if it was going to rain. Just as the thought crossed her mind, suddenly there was a thunderclap outside, then the wind started to rise, and raindrops fell.

Mu Yunyao could not help but approached the window, opened it and looked outside. The sky was dark and very low, almost as if the sky and the ground were joined together. Raindrops shortly fell intensely, and in a short period of time, they were interwoven into a thick rain curtain, dyeing the sky and the earth into a vast expanse of white.

There were some raindrops falling on her face and Mu Yunyao could not help but frown. She wanted to close the window when she noticed a red silhouette suddenly appearing on the corner of the street, walking in the direction of Niyunfang.

Mu Yunyao was surprised, the rain was too heavy that the figure on the street could not easily be seen. She carefully surveyed for a while, before finally confirmed her suspicions. She hurried downstairs and opened the door and went out with an oil-paper umbrella.

The red figure seemed to be wandering aimlessly and staggered under the heavy rain. She suddenly felt that the rain on the top of her head had disappeared. She turned back only to see Mu Yunyao who was trying to hold up her own umbrella for her.

The rain was too heavy and the wind was also strong. Mu Yunyao who just came out with the umbrella but was thoroughly drenched in mere minutes: "Ma’am, the rain is too heavy. Let’s take shelter at Niyunfang until it subsides." The drenched figure in red was actually Xuan Manor’s main wife, Ding Yuelan.

Ding Yuelan was momentarily dazed. When she regained her senses, she had already led into Niyunfang by Mu Yunyao.

Mu Yunyao took a large cloth towel for Ding Yuelan and then helped her to go to the second floor.

Jin Lan heard some noise and went downstairs. She saw Mu Yunyao and Ding Yuelan’s soaked appearance and her heart jumped.

"Jin Lan, tell Jin Qiao to prepare some hot water and brew some ginger tea, and don’t worry about the rest."

    "Yes, Miss."

Jin Lan went upstairs, called Jin Qiao to prepare hot water, and told others to not go downstairs; afterwards, she went to the kitchen to make ginger tea.

Mu Yunyao helped Ding Yuelan take off her wet coat, and in a soft voice said: "Although it’s summer, a woman’s body is innately weak. After getting soaked in the rain, it’s better for the lady to take a bath and change into clean clothes first."

Ding Yuelan lifted her hand and tucked her messy hair behind her ears. She sniffed and laughed, and her voice sounded like she had lost her soul. "I didn't expect that a stranger whom I met only once would be more humane than those I’d shared a pillow with all the time."

Mu Yunyao narrowed her eyes slightly and acted as if she had not heard this sentence while she helped  Ding Yuelan to the inner room and prepared the bathing things one by one, spoke some words to Ding Yuelan and then retired.

Jin Lan already prepared the dry clothes and was waiting at the door. When she saw Mu Yunyao coming out, she hurriedly greeted her: "Miss, just change your clothes first. The rain earlier was too heavy, and your body was thoroughly soaked."

Mu Yunyao changed her clothes and drank a bowl of hot ginger tea. This made her slowly feel relieved: "I’m fine now. You and Jin Qiao go prepare some food and deliver it upstairs. Inform my mother to rest first. Don’t worry about me."

    "Yes, Miss."

About half an hour later, Ding Yuelan had changed her clothes. After the bath, her face, which was a little rosier, looked much better than before.

Mu Yunyao motioned Ding Yuelan to sit down, and then wrapped her long and wet hair with a dry towel. After removing the jewellery and exquisite makeup, Ding Yuelan’s fierce and heroic bearing looked a bit less arrogant and more delicate than usual.

"Ma’am, please drink this ginger tea to dispel the cold."

When the ginger tea entered her mouth, it tasted spicy and slightly sweet, and warmth spread to her stomach, it seemed as if even the cold in her heart was dispelled by it: "Thank you, Mu girl."

    "The ma’am is too polite."

Jin Lan and Jin Qiao brought the meal over. Mu Yunyao signalled for them to leave, and said to Ding Yuelan: "I haven't eaten dinner yet. After being drenched in the rain, I feel even hungrier now. If the lady doesn’t mind, how about we eat together?"

    "No need, I’m not hungry..."

"Mother once said, never think about anything at night or when you are hungry, because at that time, the more you think, the worse you’ll feel. If you wait until the next day, when the red sun rises in the east, you'll feel that it is not that serious." Mu Yunyao said as she picked up a pair of chopsticks and a bowl. Ding Yuelan still remained motionless but she did not persuade her further, and just ate by herself.

Mu Yunyao was a very charming girl. These days, Su Qing always accompanied her. In order to please her mother, when eating, she often inevitably brought out a trace of childishness, making her seemed like she had eaten something very delicious. In this way, Su Qing always laughed happily when she ate with her daughter.

When the aroma of the food assailed her, Ding Yuelan looked at her slightly charming eating manner, and felt that she had some appetite. She even took up the chopsticks and ate half a bowl.

Mu Yunyao flashed a smile in her eyes. After eating the meal, Mu Yunyao asked Jin Lan to bring two cups of ginger tea, and one of them took a soft couch outside to rest.

With ginger tea in her hands, soft and warm clothes, and soft couches covered with leather to lean on, Ding Yuelan felt that her whole person was relaxed and her heart was no longer cold and trembling. After a moment of silence, she turned to Mu Yunyao and said, "Aren’t you curious what happened to me when you saw me down?"
